Description

The Illinois State Water Survey houses several national programs aimed at providing support to industry professionals working in the water and wastewater sector. The WaterOperator.org program has supported municipal water and wastewater operators since 2013 by providing the means to search for continuing education opportunities and publicly accessible resources to help maintain compliance. The PrivateWellClass.org program has offered a free, self-paced training for environmental health professionals and water well owners. In 2024, a new website, DecentralizedWastewater.org was launched to provide support to professionals working in the onsite wastewater industry. This presentation will provide an overview of these programs and will highlight how they can support wastewater and environmental health professionals.

After this session, attendees will be able to:

1. Discover onsite wastewater training opportunities through DecentralizedWastewater.org
2. Assist private well owners through the PrivateWellClass.org program
3. Utilize resources available through EPA’s SepticSmart and Closing America’s Wastewater Access Gap program
